Dr Barbara Parolini is an ophthalmologist with a special interest in surgery of retina and anterior segment.

She works mainly in Brescia, Italy but have been working also abroad as consultant surgeon.

As past experiences of note, she entered a Postodoctoral retina fellowship in 1994-1995 at UCSF (San Francisco, USA) and in 1997-1998 UMDNJ at UMDNJ (Newark, USA) studying RPE transplantation.

She is now Head of VitreoRetinal Unit, at Eyecare Clinic, in Brescia, Italy

Her surgical experience covers about 10000 cases of complex cases of vitreoretinal pathologies, submacular surgery, high myopia, trauma and anterior segment surgery (cataract, glaucoma, cornea transplant).

She performs also refractive surgery such as femptoLASIK and phakic IOL implantations.

The main topics of interest in vitreoretinal surgery are myopic traction maculopathy, submacular surgery and lamellar macular holes.

She has written more than 75 peer-reviewed papers and 6 Book Chapters.

She is a professional lecturer and is regularly invited as Speaker and Moderator to national and international meetings.

She serves as reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals

She is VicePresident of the European Vitreoretinal Society
